Who is Eligible for the PR Card Renewal?

Are you a Canadian permanent resident, then you can apply for a renewal of your Canadian PR card? You will only be permitted to apply for an initial PR card or replacement for a lost or expired card if you have been a permanent resident before the application.

Every applicant for a permanent resident card must

Be a physically present in the country

Be a permanent resident of the country

Be authorized to stay in the country and not under compulsion to leave

Not a criminal or convicted of a crime associated with the PR card

Not be a Canadian citizen of an Indian registered under the Indian act

How to Apply for a PR Card Renewal?

Firstly, you must fill out the IMM 5444 online, which will then be submitted. The form will also be submitted alongside the necessary documents for a PR card replacement. Whether your card was stolen, expired, destroyed or lost, it can be replaced once you can complete the application form and remit the fees applicable for the processing. Note that you might not need to contact the IRCC when a PR card replacement needs to be done, as the process to follow is listed above.

Permanent Resident Card (this is only applicable if your card has expired)

Photos of yourself

Receive your PR card- once the application is approved, you will receive your PR card.

Identity document

You will also need to provide some other identity documents to help foster your card’s quick processing.

Record with your PR card

You would also be expected to show that you have not misused the PR card or been convicted for related crimes.
